Momentum provided the engineering and design services to support the integration of the first ever Battery Energy Storage System into the power generation and distribution network on an existing offshore platform.
Our multi discipline team provided engineering and design services for all phases of the project including Brownfields Concept, Select and Detail Design Engineering, Work Pack Development, Procurement Support, Construction Support, Commissioning Support, Close Out.
With the BESS operational, the Woodside operated Goodwyn A Platform, in the North West Shelf off the northern coast of Western Australia, can now operate with only three gas turbines running, enabling the shutdown of the turbine of the fourth turbine on load, saving on fuel gas usage, maintenance costs and importantly, reduce carbon emissions.
The implementation of the system results in a saving of approximately 3000 tonnes per year of fuel gas and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 7500 tonnes.
